Ranch
|
The
Ranch is uniquely positioned on the edge of the Black Hills. It converts
from timbered canyon country to creek bottom meadows to grass prairie.
A variety of wildlife lives, feeds and reproduces
in the greatest abundance on the edge on one enviroment change to the next.
For
the past ten years the ranch has welcomed guests who love the ranch life.
Guests (seldom more than six to eight people at a time) can join the ranch
life like a part of the crew - in the house, in the corrals, on the
pastures, while helping the neighbors, or in the local saloon in the next
town. |
|
|
 |
There is
a lovely decorated guest house with eight bedrooms, each with private bath, a big guest saloon and dining room and a kitchen; furthermore
there is a cabin for two people with private bath. The staff lives
in the old ranch house. There is also a big barn, the stables and a tack
room. |
The Lake
Ranch breeds beef cattle and Quarter Horses that live almost free on the
range in huge pastures. The cows calve in April and the mares foal in May/June.
But while the calves are sold in fall the colts stay on the ranch to replace
the working horses in the ranch remuda. |
